Adrienne Bailon Career

Adrienne Bailon was a member of the girl group 3LW and the group had a record deal with Epic Records. The group’s other two members were Kiely Williams and Naturi Naughton, and work on their debut album started in 1999. The first 3LW lineup was established in 1999. “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right),” their debut single, was released in the autumn of 2000.

“Playas Gon’ Play” followed the chart-topping “No More” in early 2001. On November 14, 2000, the band’s self-titled debut album, 3LW, was made available. After selling 1.3 million copies in the United States, the album was later given a platinum certification by the RIAA.
The trio set off on the MTV Total Request Live tour in the summer of 2001, joining Destiny’s Child, Dream, Nelly, Eve, and Jessica Simpson.

In response to the 9/11 attacks, 3LW collaborated on the song “What More Can I Give” in 2001 alongside a number of musicians, including Michael Jackson, Usher, Beyoncé, Luther Vandross, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey. They worked together on “Parents Just Don’t Understand” for the Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius soundtrack in late 2001 alongside Lil’ Romeo and Nick Cannon.

The first half of 2002 was spent in the studio by 3LW making an album that was slated to be called Same Game, Different Rules. The label was provided with the album and its anticipated lead single “Uh Oh,” but decided it lacked sufficient appeal for urban radio. When Same Game, Different Rules‘ MP3 files were posted online, Epic thought about eliminating the female singers. Despite the album’s failure, 3LW was kept around because of a fan-led campaign called “Never Let Go of 3LW” that gained traction on the radio.

Naturi Naughton made the announcement that she was leaving the group just as they were getting set to release their second album. Naughton said she had a history of disagreements and problems with Bailon, Williams, and their management, which resulted in a physical incident in August 2002. Naughton stated shortly after that she had been ejected from the organization.

Kiely Williams and Adrienne Bailon carried on as a pair under the moniker “3LW,” leading the media to jestingly refer to them as “2LW.” In a cover feature for the Sister 2 Sister magazine’s October 2002 issue, Kiely & Adrienne said they had to step up security because they had received death threats. The popularity of the group and album sales were significantly impacted by Naturi’s departure.

Without Benson, the band might have been forced to break up because of “bankruptcy”. Jessica made her television debut on Live with Regis & Kelly. She then appeared on Soul Train.

Adrienne Bailon and Williams both agreed to take on the role of The Cheetah Girls on the Disney Channel while working on the album. They played two of the four members of a female girl group with the same name from the movie; Raven-Symoné and Sabrina Bryan played the other two. The movie, which was released in August 2003, did well at the box office. The Cheetah Girls soundtrack debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 33 and eventually received a 2 Platinum certification from the RIAA.
