Relationship Between Bo Burnham and Lorene Scafaria

Bo Burnham

Bo Burnham is very much in a relationship, despite what his Inside episode’s tribute to sexting may have led you to assume. Bo Burnham and Lorene Scafaria have been together for eight years, and although I don’t know much about their relationship’s past, we do have some insight. If you were wondering what the “for lor, for everything” dedication at the conclusion of Inside meant, the letter was meant as a shoutout for his director and screenwriter partner. The two have been dating since 2013. You enjoy seeing it.

Scafaria is somewhat of a huge thing, even if Burnham and his partner have kept their relationship very discreet over the years. She directed the movies Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, The Meddler, and Hustlers. Prior to dating Burnham, she allegedly dated a number of well-known men, including Adam Brody and Ashton Kutcher, who she allegedly dated for two years before splitting up with him in 2011.

Bo Burnham and Scafaria may not frequently communicate or post about one another, but they have consistently supported one another’s accomplishments with adorable IG photos over the years, so it seems quite obvious to me that they are a real couple. What you should know about their enigmatic relationship is as follows.

Bo Burnham referred to Scarafaria as “his girlfriend of five years” in a July 2018 interview with Time, so it appears the two began dating sometime in 2013. It’s unknown how the two first met. The couple cohabitated in Los Angeles, and in the interview, Burnham thanked Scafaria “for showing him some of the Hollywood ropes.”

They made their Instagram debut in October 2013 when Scafaria shared a photo of Burnham from what appeared to be a bookshop reading of his poetry book, Egghead: Or, You Can’t Survive on Ideas Alone. Additionally, they engaged in a humorous Twitter conversation in September 2013.

The couple attended a party in Toronto in September 2015 that was thrown in honor of Scafaria’s upcoming film, The Meddler. The film’s premiere was attended by Burnham and his girlfriend once more in April 2016.

Bo Burnham made sure to include Scafaria in his remarks following his February 2019 Independent Spirit Award win for Best First Screenplay. I was motivated to do this by watching my fiancée, Lorene Scafaria, who is present, work as a writer-director, so thank you, he said.

Later in the year, Bo Burnham again complimented Scafaria, this time in an Instagram post honoring her movie Hustlers. “I have had a front row seat to the making of this movie, having lived with the genius who made it as she struggled to convince people that this was a movie worth making — and furthermore, that she should direct it,” he wrote.

“Many told her no, that though she wrote the script, and had directed two beautiful films prior to this, that she was not the right fit to direct it. Those people now sell cream cheese for a living or something, I assume. This movie is brilliant and warm and funny and sexy just like the woman who made it. I love this movie and I love her.”
