Woodbine made his acting debut at the age of 19 as a stand-in and extra in Tupac Shakur and Omar Epps’ Juice (1992), directed by Ernest Dickerson, with the support of his actress mother. He made his acting debut on television the following year in the CBS Schoolbreak Special “Love Off Limits.”

Jaki Brown-Karman, a casting director, took notice of his appearance and later suggested that Forest Whitaker use him for the HBO television film Strapped (1993).
