Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, often known as Gunna, was born in College Park, Georgia. He was raised by his mother and has four older brothers. Gunna met Young Thug through Keith “King” Troup, a friend and prominent member of the community who passed away in December 2015. Later, he was a featured rapper on Thug’s song “Floyd Mayweather” from his promotional mixtape Jeffery, which also included Travis Scott and Gucci Mane.
Through YSL Records, Gunna released his debut mixtape Drip Season on October 14, 2016. It included YSL members like Young Thug, Lil Duke, and Nechie. Gunna was arrested in May 2022 as part of a broad indictment that also included Young Thug, another rapper. The 180-page indictment claims that Gunna, real name Sergio Kitchens, committed offenses like drug distribution with intent and obtaining stolen goods.
