When she was six years old, her parents divorced, and she went to Ohio with her father, who began an auto repair company. They traveled about the state frequently, with Haley later stating, “There’s no time when I lived anywhere longer than two years.” I was always an outcast in social situations. Maybe I didn’t care what other people thought because I  thought, ‘Well, I probably won’t stick around here for too long”.  Haley defines her youth as “nomadic,” since she moved to live with her father in Ohio and her mother in Florida.

Even when she was a resident of Ohio She would spend her time in rural and suburban locations rather than in cities. They had pigs and ferrets and rode four-wheelers. In their backyard, there was a creek. For a time in her childhood, she was a tomboy. It was difficult for her to understand because she would grow up with her parents separately. So she inherited femininity from her mother and boyishness from her father. Her father enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, and boating. Her mother, on the other hand, was gentle and strong, but she was more of an artist.

She would subsequently attend Barron Collier High School and Barbizon School to study music and theater. In the summer of 2005, Haley moved to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue a career in acting.

She would gain representation as she was ready to return home by telling her potential agent that a well-known agency had approached her. The agency refused to let Haley go and eventually signed her. Her formal stage name would thereafter be her mother’s maiden name.
