Joe Alwyn And Taylor Swift: Interesting Facts About Their Relationship And Engagement

According to the Sun, Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn are engaged. According to the outlet, the actor proposed months ago, but the couple has “only notified” their close friends and family.

“Basically immediate family, and trusted very old friends,” the source said. “Everyone has been sworn to secrecy, too.” The informant further claimed that Taylor Swift only wears her “lovely ring” in private.

“Again, only a handful of people know details about the wedding and Taylor hasn’t even told some of her team about the engagement,” the source continued.

“They want their love to stay away from the cameras as much as possible. This is just for them. And if and when they do exchange vows, there most definitely won’t be any Vogue, Rolling Stone, or Hello! magazines there. It will be simple and elegant — like them.”

Alwyn addressed the claims that he discreetly proposed to Swift in an interview with WSJ. Magazine back in April. “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” he said at the time.

“I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.” The first publication to disclose Swift and Alwyn’s engagement was Life & Style back in February. This isn’t the first time there have been rumors of an engagement, even though Swift, 32, and Alwyn, 31, have maintained their well-known secrecy as a pair since they were initially linked in 2017.

Taylor Swift thanked Alwyn during her winning speech at the 2021 Grammy Awards, saying, “Joe, who is the first person who I play every single song that I write,” and added, “And I had the best time writing songs with you in quarantine.”

Swift informed Paul McCartney, who is a leading expert on the challenges of leading a public life, in November 2020 that “being in the relationship I am in now, I have definitely made decisions that have made my life feel more like a real life and less like just a storyline to be commented on in tabloids.”

She previously stated during the interview, “I can’t control if there’s going to be a fake weird headline about us in the news tomorrow.”

Who is Taylor Swift?

On December 13, 1989, Taylor Alison Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania. James Taylor, a musician, is honored in her name. She grew up on a Christmas tree farm with her parents Scott and Andrea, brother Austin, and other family members. For preschool and kindergarten, she attended a Montessori school; for first grade, she transferred to The Wyndcroft School. Taylor developed a passion for musical theater at the age of nine. Additionally, she engaged in acting and singing classes in New York City.

She first became interested in country music as a fan of Shania Twain. As a preteen and adolescent, she gave performances at festivals and neighborhood gatherings. She eventually came to the conclusion that she had to move to Nashville, so she and her mother went and turned in Taylor’s early demo of versions of Dolly Parton and The Chicks. Because record companies didn’t think Taylor was unique enough, she departed Nashville without a record deal.

In order to offer her a better opportunity of breaking into the music industry, Swift’s family relocated to Nashville when she was 14 years old. At that time, she learned how to play the guitar and penned “Lucky You.” In 2003, Swift began collaborating with music manager Dan Dymtrow. Swift’s modeling contract for Abercrombie & Fitch’s “Rising Stars” campaign and the inclusion of one of her own songs on a compilation CD were both made possible by him. Swift received an artist development contract after giving a showcase for RCA Records performance of her original music.

Who is Joe Alwyn?

On February 21, 1991, Joseph Matthew Alwyn was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. Alwyn, who was up in North London’s Tufnell Park and Crouch End, is the son of a psychologist mother and a documentary filmmaker father. He is William Alwyn’s great-grandson, the composer.

Alwyn attended the City of London School for his education. Around the age of 13, he temporarily took guitar lessons and joined the school band “Anger Management.” Later, he participated in school rugby and soccer. Alwyn, who was described as “introverted” as a child, had a hidden desire to be an actor and joined the National Youth Theatre in his late teens.

He participated in two student performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival while earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English literature and theater at the University of Bristol. He applied to four drama schools after graduating in 2012, but all of them turned him down with the exception of the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, where he earned a BA in acting.

Alwyn signed with an agent during the third year of the program after the agent noticed him at a student showcase. Soon later, the agency told Alwyn that a production company was seeking a character actor for Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (2016), which would become Alwyn’s first appearance in a major motion picture.

Joe Alwyn’s Career

Within a week of his graduation showcase in early 2015, Alwyn was chosen to play the lead in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, a 2016 war drama film directed by Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee and based on the same-titled novel by American author Ben Fountain. Alwyn was chosen by Lee, according to him, because of his “ability to communicate the paradox of war in the book with just his facial expressions.”

Alwyn’s acting was hailed for its authenticity in the film’s reviews by critics. Journalists continued by calling the movie his “breakout.” The following year, he appeared in a supporting part in Ritesh Batra’s 2017 mystery drama The Sense of an Ending.

Alwyn had several film appearances in 2018. In the historical black comedy The Favourite, directed by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, he co-starred with actors Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz, Emma Stone, and Nicholas Hoult as the British aristocrat Samuel Masham. The 91st Academy Awards nominated the movie for 10 awards.

In Chris Weitz’s historical drama Operation Finale, which stars Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley in the lead roles, he played Klaus Eichmann, the son of German Nazi official Adolf Eichmann. He also had a supporting role in Joel Edgerton’s biographical drama Boy Erased, which is based on a 2016 memoir by American LGBT+ activist Garrard Conley.

In the romantic thriller Stars at Noon, which won the Grand Prix at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and had its world premiere there, he starred opposite Margaret Qualley. Additionally, he has been cast in two upcoming projects: Riz Ahmed and Morfydd Clark will appear with him in Aneil Karia’s contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, as well as in Lena Dunham’s comedy film Catherine, Called Birdy, based on the 1994 children’s book of the same name by American author Karen Cushman.

On American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s eighth studio album, Folklore (2020), Alwyn co-produced the songs “Exile,” “Betty,” “My Tears Ricochet,” and “August,” “This Is Me Trying,” and “Illicit Affairs.” He also co-wrote “Exile” and “Betty” under William Bowery’s alias.

In a number of nations, “Exile” peaked in the top 10, reaching positions six on the US Billboard Hot 100 and eight on the UK Singles Chart, respectively. Exile was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021, and Folklore won Album of the Year, giving Alwyn his first Grammy.

On Swift’s second album of 2020, Evermore, he (as Bowery) also co-wrote “Champagne Problems,” “Coney Island,” and the album’s title song. In April 2022, Alwyn revealed to The Wall Street Journal that the name “William Bowery” was a combination of his great grandpa, a composer of music named William Alwyn, and the Bowery neighborhood of New York City, where he had spent “a lot of time” when he first immigrated to the country.

Alwyn added that he had not intended to collaborate with Swift, but “it came about from messing around on a piano, and singing badly,” and then “being overheard by Swift, and being, like, ‘Let’s see what happens if we get to the end of it together.”
