Juicy J had the music fire burning in him from a tender age

Juicy J, also known as Jordan Micheal Houston, was born on the 5th day of April 1975 in North Memphis, Tennessee. He rapped at home when he was a little child using Oatmeal Jars as drums.

As he grew older, he read books, essays, and articles to expand his knowledge of the music industry, including marketing, royalties, and publishing. “Slob on My Knob” was written when he was in 11th grade at North Side High School.

How he juggles between music and producing

Juicy J’s professional rap career began when he began producing music with his music partner DJ Paul, who eventually joined the group Three Mafia. Their group, now known as Three 6 Mafia, began as a horror-themed hip-hop group with danceable but (at times) far too dark sounds.

Other well-known Memphis rappers such as Lord Infamous, Gangsta Boo, Koopsta Knicca, and Crunchy Black later joined the group.

Juicy J and DJ Paul founded Prophet Entertainment, which he sold to their business partner Nick Jackson in 1994. Under North North Records, Juicy J released his debut solo studio album Chronicles of the Juice Man, which was a fair success.

In 2005, he released “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” which he co-wrote with DJ Paul, Frayser Boy, and Crunchy Black. Amazingly, he won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2006 and was placed #80 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs list.

After leaving Three 6 Mafia in 2009, JJ began a solo career, collaborating with artists like Wiz Khalifa. He eventually became the co-owner and A&R representative of Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Records. In 2012, he released the first song from his album Star Trippy, “Bandz a Make Her Dance,” which featured rappers 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne. The songs were loved by his fans and rated at number 29 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

In 2013, he released “Show Out,” a song that featured Big Sean and Young Jeezy and was the second single from his album Stay Trippy. That same year, he collaborated with Miley Cyrus and rapper Big Sean on a single.

In 2014, JJ began his “Never Sober” tour, which included his brother Project Pat and rapper Travis Scott. He then collaborated with Suicideboys on a mixtape titled “Highly Intoxicated,” in 2008.

J’s fifth album “The Hustle Continues,” was released on July 31, 2020, by his new label Entertainment One.
