Marcel Young

Early Life

Marcel Young, the son of Dr. Dre and Michel’le, was born on February 6, 1991, in Los Angeles, California. Theodore and Verna Young were his grandparents and Dre’s parents. An amateur R&B group owned by Theodore. Young has Louisiana Creole ancestors on his mother’s side.

Michel’le found out about her pregnancy with Marcel quite late. After 6 weeks of pregnancy, she would learn about him. She was still on the Hammer tour at the time, with two months left.

She needed to return home to give birth to the baby and finish up some more concerts. After that, Toussant became a stay-at-home parent.

She advises against having a child if one wishes to work in this industry. The baby can easily take a year and a half off, according to Young’s mother.

Career

Marcel Young hasn’t revealed much about his personal life; it’s been said that he’s dabbled with the music industry, but he’s shied away from the spotlight and, presumably, stardom.

Personal Life

Marcel keeps his love life a closely guarded secret, and he hasn’t mentioned any ladies (or men) he may have dated. This is why there are rumors about her present relationship status and his sexual orientation spreading on the internet.

Some of his parents’ admirers assume he is gay, which is why he hasn’t mentioned any ladies he has dated; one fan even claims to have spotted Marcel spending time with a man who is thought to be his lover, but Marcel hasn’t acknowledged or addressed this.

There are however those who claim that he is straight and is currently dating or married to a non-celebrity American woman and that Marcel merely likes to keep her out of the spotlight, but this has yet to be proved.

He appears to be unmarried, has never married, and has no children as of June 2022.

Parents

Dr. Dre (Father)

Andre Romelle Young, better known by his stage name Dr. Dre, is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur who was born on February 18, 1965. He co-founded, co-owned, and served as the president of Death Row Records before co-founding, co-owning, and serving as the CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics.

Dr. Dre began his career in 1985 as a member of the World Class Wreckin’ Cru, subsequently becoming famous as a member of the gangsta rap group N.W.A. The trio made explicit hip-hop lyrics famous by describing the violence of street life. Dre is credited with helping to create and popularize West Coast G-funk, a hip hop subgenre defined by a synthesizer base and sluggish, heavy beats, in the early 1990s.

Dre’s solo first studio album The Chronic in 1992, published on Death Row Records, became one of the best-selling American music artists of the year. For the single “Let Me Ride,” he won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance, as well as multiple other awards for “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang.”

That year, he produced Snoop Doggy Dogg’s debut album Doggystyle and mentored producers like his stepbrother Warren G who went on to produce the multi-platinum debut Regulate…G Funk Era in 1994, and Snoop Dogg’s cousin Daz Dillinger who went on to produce the double-platinum debut Dogg Food by Tha Dogg Pound in 1995, as well as upcoming producers Sam Sneed and Mel-Man.

Dr. Dre departed Death Row Records in 1996 to start his own record label, Aftermath Entertainment. In 1996, he released Dr. Dre Presents the Aftermath, a compilation album, and in 1999, he released 2001, a solo album.

Dr. Dre focused on producing other musicians in the 2000s, occasionally adding vocals. In 1998, he signed Eminem and in 2002, he signed 50 Cent, and he co-produced their albums. Many other rappers, including The D.O.C., Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Knoc-turn’al, the Game, Kendrick Lamar, and Anderson.Paak has enlisted his help in producing albums and managing their careers.

Dr. Dre has also appeared in films such as Set It Off, The Wash, and Training Day as an actor. He has six Grammy Awards under his belt, including Producer of the Year for Non-Classical Music. On Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, he was ranked number 56. With an estimated net worth of $800 million in 2018, he was the second-richest figure in hip hop.

Michel’le Toussaint (Mother)

Michel’le Denise Toussaint is an American R&B singer who was born on December 5, 1970. Michel’le met Dr. Dre for the first time when she was 17 years old, in 1987.

Turn Off the Lights, by World Class Wreckin’ Crue, included her as a featured vocalist. Michel’le and Dr.Dre began dating in the 1990s and dissolved their relationship in 1996.

Michel’le Toussant, now 52, is well known for her double-platinum self-titled album from 1989. Young’s mother recorded “Turn Off the Lights” for World Class Wreckin’ Cru, Dr. Dre’s R&B group with DJ Yella, when she was 16 years old in 1986.

Michel’le Toussaint used to commute to work on three buses. She was intelligent, but she had little understanding of the music industry’s inner workings, and she never received a penny from the song’s royalties. Dre’s ex-wife admitted to wearing the same pair of jeans three times a week. Her mother had an excessive number of children, making it difficult for her to provide for them.

Dr. Dre and Michel’le Toussaint’s Relationship

Marcel Young

In the late 1980s, Dre and Michel’le Toussant met at Ruthless Records. Michel’le Toussaint and Dre began dating a few months after the release of “Turn Off the Lights (1987).” Until Eazy-E approached her about signing with Ruthless Records, the former never considered herself as much more than Dre’s girlfriend. Her debut album, which includes the track “No More Lies,” was produced by Dre.

There were times when Toussant’s life felt like something out of a dream when he was working with Dr. Dre, the godfather of American hip-hop. Young’s father once surprised her with a home in Calabasas, California, that he had purchased for them both.

Dr. Dre was a chronic cheater, which added to the pain of the physical violence. For a total of six years, they were in a romantic relationship.

The relationship between Young’s parents, Dr. Dre and Michel’le, was explored in the 2016 American biographical TV drama film Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le.

In 1991, Young’s father raped her in a nightclub in Los Angeles. Toussaint believed Dre was going to kill her at the time, according to a Gawker journalist. Young’s parents resolved a civil claim outside of court after the rapper pleaded no contest to the allegation.

Toussaint claimed she was delighted she wasn’t in the movie in an interview with Vlad TV. Young’s mother said that she was just a quiet girlfriend who was beaten up and instructed to sit down and shut up from the start.

Sadly, it wasn’t until she left South Central that Toussaint learned domestic abuse wasn’t typical and that she’d done nothing to deserve it. She also never reported Dre to the authorities. Marcel’s mother explained that she was quiet since she didn’t know any better and mistook it for love.

Dr. Dre frequently hit Michel’le Toussaint with a closed fist, according to Toussaint, who said he had given her black eyes on at least five occasions in an interview with New York radio station Power 105. He allegedly fractured her nose and cracked her rib, according to her.

Dr. Dre, like many other males who conduct acts of intimate relationship violence, isolated her from her friends, especially if they were guys, according to Toussaint.

Michel’le also discussed the incident when Dr. Dre fired a shot at her during an interview with VLAD TV.

They had just partied and then gotten into an argument, he went to get the pistol, and she had just made it through the bathroom door, she remembered. According to Michel’le Toussant, Marcel’s father fired a shot at her, missing me by a few inches.

Michel’le then left the bullet in the hole. She recounted how it started in the door and then went through the bathroom’s side wall, where she left it for a bit so he could see it.

Michel’le Toussant claimed he never tried to shoot her again after the incident. However, the beatings would continue.

While Marcel’s mother was able to get free from Dre, she was bound to face physical violence again, only this time the perpetrator was not the Grammy-winning musician.

Suge Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, allegedly only struck Toussant once, according to Toussant. He pledged not to slap her again after that because “she was too small.”

Suge was incarcerated for six of the eight years the couple was together. The record producer is currently doing time in prison for an attempted murder charge from 2015.
