Hegseth was born in Forest Lake, Minnesota, on June 6, 1980. He attended Forest Lake Area High School and graduated from Princeton University in 2003 with a degree in the arts. He graduated with a Master of Public Policy in 2013 from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Hegseth oversaw The Princeton Tory, a conservative student newspaper at Princeton.
