We are all familiar with the entrepreneur who teaches the ways of money with his bestselling book – Robert Kiyosaki. Robert Kiyosaki is the bestselling author of the novel ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad and many other novels in the same field. However, going to the past of this renowned author, the figure of Ralph H Kiyosaki is not too far-fetched.

Ralph H Kiyosaki is the father of the top author and businessman – Robert T. Kiyosaki and his siblings – Emi, Beth, and John Kiyosaki. Ralph Kiyosaki was an educator and an impactful figure in the 1900s.

Many of his lines were part of the 1900s newspapers with other commentaries that portray his intelligence.

Ralph H Kiyosaki’s Early Life And Education

Ralph H. Kiyosaki was born in Hawaii, United States on the 11th of December, 1919. He was a native of Paia Maui Hawaii and was a Japanese – American. His father was Heleki Iwanga-Kiyosaki while his mother was Mitsuru Iwanga-Kiyosaki. His father was born on July 7, 1887, and his mother on May 21, 1901.

He grew up with his parents and five siblings – Thomas Noritono Kiyosaki, Robert Mitsuo Kiyosaki, and three others.

Ralph attended Maui High School, graduating in 1938. He went to college at the University of Hawaii and graduated in 1941 with an honorary degree. He also studied at the National Science Institute, Stanford University, and the University of Chicago.

Ralph H Kiyosaki’s Impact On Education 

Ralph lived his life, placing his impact on education. He began his career in education in 1942, teaching at Puukolii, Maui. He became the principal of Kavgiloa School in 1947. Ralph was also the supervisor of interns and practice teachers at the University of Hawaii.

In 1959, he became the district superintendent of the Hawaii district. Before that, he was the field assistant for the Hawaii District of the Deputy of Education.

However, he resigned from these posts in 1968 and became director of the Peace Corps Training Program for the University of Hawaii. Between 1967 to 1970, he became the state superintendent of Education.

Personal Life And Family

Ralph H Kiyosaki married Majorie O. Kiyosaki who worked as a nurse. They had four children, namely Robert Kiyosaki, John Kiyosaki, Beth Kiyosaki and Emi Kiyosaki.

Notable Family Figure

Aside from his many achievements in education, the Kiyosaki’s moved to the spotlight through the presence of his first son – Robert Kiyosaki. Born in 1947 in Hilo, which was in Hawaii back then, he attended Hilo High School and graduated in 1965.

He received nominations for the U. S Naval Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He graduated in 1969 from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York as a deck officer.

Robert also worked in Standard Oil’s tanker office as a third mate but resigned after six months to join the Marine Corps as a pilot. He also enrolled in a two-year MBA program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Robert turned out to be a worldwide business personality, breaking into the market with his books. He began with a company called “Rippers” which produced the first nylon and velcro surfer wallets. Though his products featured on several channels, his company eventually went bankrupt.

He worked in Xerox as a sales associate and stopped in June 1978. He started another retail business that made T-shirts, hats, wallets, bags, and so on for heavy metal rock bands. Again, he went bankrupt in 1980.

The Beginning Of Cashflow Technologies Incorporation

He began another education company which he sold in 1994. He began his writing in 1992 with his first book: ‘If You Want to Be Rich and Happy, Don’t Go to School’. In 1997, he began a financial and education company called Cashflow Technologies Incorporation.

This became his major source of earning. In 2012, his company “Rich Global LLC” became bankrupt as well. This has led to many criticisms of his written works and teachings at seminars.

Some illustrate his teaching as scams and termed them “get rich quick” schemes. From Kiyosaki’s words, the media discovered that Ralph Kiyosaki became poor and unemployed in the last years of his life despite his PhD. This explained Robert’s criticism of education and hate towards schooling principles.

His books include Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Cashflow Quadrant, Guide to Investing, Rich Kid, Smart Kid, Rich Dad’s Prophecy, and so on. He is married to Kim Kiyosaki.

Ralph Kiyosaki’s Death

Ralph H. Kiyosaki died at the Queen’s Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii on November 9, 1991. He was 71 years old and did not live up to the Kiyosaki life expectancy of 72 years. He was survived by his four children, his brothers, sisters and three grandchildren.
