Early Life

Reminisce Mackie was born on May 30, 1980, in an African area of the Bronx, New York. Due to her family’s drug addiction issue, she had to endure a lot of hardships in her early years and was forced to take care of her siblings at a very young age. Controversy With Foxy Brown

In response to an interviewer saying, “Right now, there aren’t many female rappers in the game. Foxy doesn’t have anything going on,” in August 2004, Remy Ma said, “How do I feel about them? Stay wherever they at, don’t drop a song, don’t do anything, let me be the only one. I’m having so much fun. I hope they never come out. Nah, I wish everyone the best of luck. Just don’t drop when I drop. That’s all I got to say. Matter of fact, just don’t drop at all. It’ll even be better.”

Remy further recalled that at the time of the incident, Brown allegedly denied to participate in a planned rap battle and said, “What? a conflict? That is for novices. In Brooklyn, we sell records!” Remy responded by criticizing the rapper, “When did you last sell a record? Leave this place immediately. I would rather be a fresh-faced novice than a jaded veteran. Are you for real, man? Do not attempt to diminish what I do.”

While Ma and Minaj encouraged one another, their friendship quickly soured, and they started releasing verses and songs with insulting lyrics, such as Ma’s “Money Showers” with Fat Joe and Minaj’s “Make Love” with Gucci Mane.
