Cassandra performed on tour with the musical/comedy group Mammas Boys after coming home, and in 1979, she became a member of the improv group The Groundlings. She started hosting “Elvira’s Movie Macabre” in 1981, and from 1982 to 1983, she was a radio host on KROQ-FM 106.7.
Peterson and her best friend Robert Redding created Elvira’s persona after being hired for “Movie Macabre,” and the producers allowed them to do so.
