On August 26, 1982, Mulaney was born in Chicago, Illinois. His mother Ellen was a professor at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, and his father Charles was a lawyer and a partner at Skadden Arps. John’s parents are Irish Catholics, and as a young child, he served as an altar boy. He is the third of five children.
Mulaney has no doubts about his desire to be in the entertainment business. When he was seven years old, he joined “The Rugrats,” a Chicago-based kids’ sketch group. Because of the club, John’s parents turned over an opportunity to try out for the role of Kevin in the film “Home Alone.”
