Craig Sheffer is an  American actor who works in both film and television. He is best recognized for his main performances as Norman Maclean in the movie A River Runs Through It, Aaron Boone in Nightbreed, Joe Kane in The Program, and Keith Scott on One Tree Hill.

Who is Craig Sheffer?

On April 23, 1960, Craig Sheffer was born in York, Pennsylvania, in the United States; he is of American descent and bears the sign of the Taurus horoscope. He is an actor who, arguably, is still best known for playing the title role of Norman Maclean in the drama film “A River Runs Through It,” which was released in 1992 and was directed by Robert Redford and also starred Brad Pitt and Tom Skerritt.

The movie centers on two stern minister’s kids who are fly fishing enthusiasts growing up in Montana. Although it was nominated for 11 other accolades, it only received three wins, including an Oscar.

Craig and his older brother Hogan were reared in York by their mother Anna, a homemaker, and their father Rock Sheffer, a prison guard. Hogan, a screenwriter and Daytime Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team, passed away on September 28, 2019, at the age of 61.

While attending York Suburban High School, Craig developed an interest in acting and participated in almost all of the school’s productions as well as a few plays presented at a nearby theater. He enrolled at East Stroudsburg State University after graduating in 1978 with the intention of playing football, but he left after two years to pursue a career in acting.

In the years that followed, Craig played the lead roles in a number of forgettable films, such as the 1985 crime thriller “That Was Then… This Is Now” and the 1986 love drama “Fire with Fire.” Craig made his cinematic debut in the 1984 musical science fiction comedy “Voyage of the Rock Aliens.”

When Craig played a supporting role in the popular romance drama “Some Kind of Wonderful,” starring Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Lea Thompson, and directed by Howard Deutch, in 1987, he became well-known. The story revolves around Keith, who is seeing Amanda, while Keith’s closest friend discovers that Amanda loves him and Amanda’s ex-boyfriend wants to hurt Keith.

After disclosing his cancer diagnosis in 1990, Craig took a sabbatical from acting to travel throughout Europe before eventually making his way to India in an effort to find relief. Later that year, he claimed to have recovered from his cancer and returned to the US.

Craig once had a romantic relationship with Gabrielle Anwar, a well-known British-American actress best known for playing Margaret Tudor in the historical romance series “The Tudors,” which was a major success and garnered 49 awards out of 131 nominations, including three Golden Globes.

Willow was born to Gabrielle and Craig in 1993, but the two later fell out of love. She later wed actor John Verea, gave birth to their two children, and later filed for divorce. Since August 2015, she has been married to Mark Malnik.
