His Personal Life

On January 30, 2009, Jason wed Jordan Monsanto, and on April 1, 2015, their daughter Logan Lee was born. Mewes has battled drug addiction, and following the filming of “Mallrats,” he began using heroin. Jason was placed into Kevin Smith’s flat, and Mewes was told that “he was going to kick the brown, cold turkey.”

When the group started rehearsing for “Dogma,” Smith had taken Mewes to methadone clinics, and Jason had been clean for roughly seven months. Mewes started taking heroin once more a few weeks into the “Dogma” filming, and he slept off in the middle of a scene. He was given drug counseling and community service after being found in possession of heroin in 1999.

Mewes was permitted to move back in with Smith after he got married and bought a home, but Smith expelled him when he learned that he was using narcotics once more. In order to get heroin delivered to a hotel where a press junket for “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” was taking place, Jason stole Kevin’s ATM card and spent more than $1,000. After that, Smith forced Mewes to go treatment, but none of his stints there were productive, so Kevin decided not to cast Jason in “Jersey Girl.”

Mewes, when high on heroin in the latter part of 2002, dozed off beside a lighted candle and awoke to find a fire had begun. He turned himself into New Jersey police in April 2003 for breaking the terms of his probation, and a judge subsequently ordered him to go to rehab for six months.

Jason declared in July 2006 that he was drug-free and had no desire to use them, but in 2009, following surgery, he relapsed. To assist Mewes in maintaining his sobriety, Smith started the “Jay & Silent Bob Get Old” podcast in August 2010. In a 2014 Reddit Q&A, Jason disclosed that he has been sober since July 2010.
