Natasha Bianca Lyonne Braunstein professionally known as Natasha Lyonne is an American actress, director, writer, and producer.

Her roles as Nicky Nichols on the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019), for which she was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress, and as Nadia Vulvokov on the Netflix series Russian Doll (2019–present), which she also co–created, executive, produced, wrote, and directed, are well-known. She has also been nominated for three Emmy Awards for this later role, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Natasha Lyonne is the daughter of Ivette Buchinger, a boxing promoter, and Aaron Braunstein, a race car driver and radio personality. She was born in New York City and raised in an Orthodox Jewish home.

Her mother was born to Holocaust survivors who were Hungarian Jews in Paris, France. According to Lyonne’s joke, her family is made up of “my mother’s side, Auschwitz, and my father’s side, Flatbush.” Ella, her grandma, was a member of a big family.
