On December 11, 1985, Souza was born in Mexico City, Mexico, to a Chilean father and a Mexican mother named Mónica. Elba Silva, her grandmother, moved to New York City from Chile in the 1960s and worked as an assistant cook for the Rockefeller family for 20 years. Souza, who was raised in Aspen, Colorado, until she was eight years old, attributes her citizenship to her grandmother, who immigrated to this country.

At the Televisa-run Centro de Educación Artstica, Souza studied acting in Mexico City. She also participated in a professional theater company that toured France and attended an acting school there.
