Early Life
Bryson Lashun Potts was born on November 1, 2002, to an African American father and a Jamaican mother. He was raised in Southeast Memphis, Tennessee’s Parkway Village community, and went to Cordova High School, where he played basketball. He began freestyling at the age of 15 alongside Charlie, Austin, and Gino, three of his childhood friends. At the age of 16, he started taking music lessons seriously.
Career
NLE Choppa has been managed by his mother, Angela Potts, ever since he first displayed an interest in rap music. In March 2018, he released “No Love Anthem,” his first song under the YNR Choppa moniker. On July 22, he issued his debut mixtape, No Love the Takeover. In December, he appeared on “No Chorus Pt. 3,” a cypher song by his Shotta Fam group.
