Youtube

One of the most well-known YouTube stars was Mota. In June 2009, Mota released his first haul video. She started a YouTube channel to escape the pressure of abuse, and it quickly grew a following, reaching 9.5 million subscribers in October 2015. She was referred to be “a virtuoso of positivity” and “relentlessly upbeat and bouncy” by Business Insider.

Bethany Mota received free cosmetics and gift cards as hauling on YouTube gained popularity and manufacturers started to utilize it for promotion. Mota is undecided about promotional videos, but when she does include free things, she makes it clear which ones she hasn’t actually bought. According to a Business Insider estimate from January 2014, she earned $40,000 per month from her videos.

She buys gifts and trophies to offer to followers who share her videos in order to grow her fan base. “Mota-vators” is the name of her followers. She also keeps a more personal account, which she utilizes it to talk about whatever interests her, in addition to her fashion-related videos. She was chosen in 2014 to be one of the YouTube content producers in the platform’s initial marketing campaign.

Additionally, Mota has been on the teen-targeted opinion web series IMO on YouTube. In an effort to reach a wider audience after his 2015 State of the Union Address, she also had an interview with President Barack Obama on January 22, 2015.

Fashion

She collaborated with J.C. Penney and Forever 21, and in December 2013, she debuted clothing, accessory, and fragrance brand at Aéropostale. She still has creative control over this line. She stays in touch with her followers and includes their suggestions in her clothing designs. Her look was described as “laid-back but girly” by Teen Vogue. She posts new information first on her social media pages, which Aéropostale attributes to teen girls’ growing interest.

The Salt Lake Tribune called this partnership special because, unlike customary celebrity sponsorships, Mota and Aéropostale gain credibility from it. The retailer is still struggling to see results from these initiatives as of June 2014. According to Forbes, despite having “high average prices and margins,” the collection nonetheless underperformed.

Mota founded and co-designed Atom&Matter, a line of delicate jewelry intended for daily wear while taking a break from YouTube. The brand was launched in 2019. She describes the brand’s items as a representation of individual development and metamorphosis. She thinks it might be a good and fresh approach to connect with people who don’t follow her or recognize her.

She said, “I want this to also appeal to them.” She was the focus of a New York Times feature titled “Can a YouTube Queen Like Bethany Mota Create a Jewelry Realm?” in November 2020. She was interviewed by Bloomberg for the podcast “Mota Creates Sustainable Fine Jewelry” in February 2021.

Music

She and producer-vocalist Mike Tompkins collaborated on the single “Need You Right Now,” which was released on October 13, 2014. The song debuted at number thirty on the Danish top 40 record chart Tracklisting. The official music video was published on Tompkin’s YouTube page on February 10, 2015.

In an interview given on May 4, 2015, at YouTube’s 10th anniversary YT Fan Meet Up, Mota stated she is currently writing new music and may soon release her debut studio album. On Kurt Hugo Schneider’s YouTube account, a video of Bethany Mota performing “Flashlight” was posted in June 2015. Since then, it has received over 24 million views. Mota wrote “Be Who You Wanna Be” herself and posted it to her YouTube channel in August 2015.
