American musician David Scott Mustaine was born on September 13, 1961. He is the sole consistent member of the thrash metal band Megadeth and serves as their co-founder, main vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and major songwriter. Mustaine and Megadeth have released sixteen studio albums, with six of those albums earning platinum certification.
In 2017, at the 59th Grammy Awards, Dystopia, the title track from Megadeth’s fifteenth studio album, took home the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Early Life
On September 13, 1961, in La Mesa, California, David Scott Mustaine was born. Although Mustaine was brought up as a Jehovah’s Witness, his mother is of Jewish origin. Mustaine got his start on the keyboard and the guitar at a young age.
At the age of 17, he allegedly discovered his affinity for heavy metal while selling drugs to cover his rent. According to the legend, Mustaine’s love for metal music began when one of his customers exchanged albums by AC/DC, Motorhead, and Judas Priest for narcotics.

Career
With the band Panic, David Mustaine’s heavy metal career got started. As long as Dave was the lead guitarist, everything seemed promising. However, Panic soon started to disintegrate, beginning with a horrible vehicle accident the night following Panic’s second-ever performance.
